INTRODUCTION:
Rotating equipment refers to mechanical components commonly used in industries like oil, gas, and process manufacturing to harness kinetic energy for moving fluids, gases, and other materials. This category includes, but is not limited to, engines, compressors, turbines, pumps, generators, blowers, and gearboxes. While rotating equipment plays a crucial role in operations, it is often managed separately from fixed equipment due to differences in design, maintenance, and inspection requirements.

Pump Performance & Health Monitoring
Condition monitoring involves assessing key parameters of machinery (such as vibration and temperature) to identify significant changes that may indicate emerging faults. This is a vital aspect of predictive maintenance. Condition monitoring allows for scheduled maintenance and timely intervention to prevent major damage and mitigate long-term effects. It offers the advantage of addressing issues that could reduce a machine’s lifespan before they result in severe failures. It is especially useful for detecting a wide range of defects in rotating machinery and enables diagnostic capabilities. The following inspections are performed to assess pump health and performance:
Gearbox Inspection
Condition monitoring is critical for identifying potential faults in machinery by monitoring specific parameters like vibration and temperature. This process is essential for predictive maintenance, as it helps schedule timely interventions to prevent significant failures and avoid costly repairs. It also detects various defects in rotating machinery and provides diagnostic insights. The following inspections are carried out to evaluate gearbox health:
Industrial Fan Inspection
Vibration monitoring is a key technology for condition monitoring. It detects a wide array of defects in rotating machinery and provides diagnostic insights. Portable vibration measurement products, ranging from basic meters to advanced multichannel diagnostic analyzers, allow for efficient measurement of various machines. The following tests are conducted to assess the health of industrial fans:
Pipeline Inspection
Piping systems in process industries and similar sectors are subject to constant pressure and wear during regular use, which can lead to leaks or spills. These issues can have serious consequences for plant operators, including disruptions in operations, costly repairs, environmental cleanup, and potential fines for pollution.
API 570 governs the inspection and maintenance of piping systems carrying process fluids, hydrocarbons, chemicals, natural gas, high-pressure gases, and other hazardous materials. Certain piping systems, such as those handling low-pressure fluids or water, may be exempt from some API 570 requirements. API 570 also allows for fitness-for-service assessments and risk-based inspections to evaluate the condition of piping systems and pressure-containing components in service.
IDEM Engineering offers a comprehensive Pipeline In-Service Inspections program to help plant operators identify potential risks, ensure continuous operation, and enhance productivity.
